Chattanoogans awakened Saturday morning to a light coating of snow, but the winter storm was quickly headed east.
Most roadways remained wet but clear, and Monteagle Mountain was still passable.
As downtown Chattanoogans awakened, cars and grassy areas had about an inch of snow and large flakes were still falling.
Higher elevations were due to get up to two inches of snow.
The snow was expected to melt quickly as temperatures rise to the 40s later in the day.
It was 30 degrees at 7 a.m., but was due to get to 40 by afternoon.
