Mayor Ron Littlefield captured the race for mayor of Chattanooga in Tuesday's voting.

He captured 57 percent of the vote to gain another four-year term. Rob Healy, the former city parks and recreation director, got 40 percent. Perennial candidate Thomas Smith Jr. got two percent.

With all precints reporting, the final total was:

Rob Healy 7186 40.12%
Joe Lance 105 0.59%
Ron Littlefield 10234 57.13%
Thomas Smith II 353 1.97%
Write-in Votes 35 0.20%

Incumbent Carol Berz easily held off former District 6 representative Marti Rutherford, who was trying for a comeback after giving up her post due to a residency flap.

Incumbent Linda Bennett finished 34 votes ahead of Deborah Scott in City Council District 1 and will face her in a runoff election on April 14. Joe Graham was third with 667 votes behind 906 for Ms. Bennett and 872 for Ms. Scott.

Veteran Leamon Pierce, who has been on the council since the new form of government was installed in 1990, was ahead of young challengers Andrae McGary and Dennis Clark. But he failed to get 50 percent plus one to avoid a runoff. He goes against Mr. McGary in the runoff.

There will also be a runoff in District 9 between attorney Peter Murphy and businessman J.T. McDaniel to replace Debbie Gaines.

George Patten was slightly ahead of Pam Ladd in early returns, then Ms. Ladd moved ahead in the race to replace Dan Page in District 3. Ms. Ladd, who operates her own cleaning service, won by 56 votes.

Incumbent Manny Rico won over challengers Clifford Eberhardt and Mahmood Abdullah in District 7.

Sally Robinson, Jack Benson and Russell Gilbert were unopposed.

In Collegedale, Debbie Baker, Tim Johnson and Katie A. Lamb were winners.

Only 18 percent of voters turned out for the election.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
