Ooltewah's Jacques Smith Finishes 1st In AAA State In Discus

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- University of Tennessee football commitment Jacques finished first here Friday in the discus in the Class AAA state track and field meet.

Smith, who will be a senior next fall for the Owls, recently committed to the Vols. His throw was 156-10.

He shot the put 53-09.50 Friday morning and finished second in that event.

Smith will not be competing in the track and field meet next spring because he plans to enroll at UT in January.

The Ooltewah 4x200 relay team also won a state title.

Ooltewah finished third in the team competition.
