Mary Tatum

Mary Geneva Tatum, 81, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at her home.

She was born August 3, 1927 in Dutton, Al.

Prior to her retirement, she worked in Rossville as a receptionist for both Dr. John Hoover and Dr. Tom Atkins. Following her retirement, she was employed with K-Mart. She was honored by the Highland Park Neighborhood Association by naming “Tatum Park” in her honor for years of service as a neighborhood organizer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Minnie Tatum.

Survivors include her companion and care giver, Julian Walker of Chattanooga; sister, Johnnie Calloway of Ringgold; brother, Matthew Tatum of Auburn, Ga.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 12 p.m. EST at Dutton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dutton, Al., with Rev. Mike Angel officiating.

Jessie F. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
