Tn. Valley Orchid Society Holds Annual Picnic And Orchid Auction

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

The Tennessee Valley Orchid Society will hold its annual picnic and Orchid Auction at River Park, Pavilion No. 3, off Amnicola Highway, from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, July 20.

The auction is in part a fundraiser for the orchid society, as 50 percent of the funds raised will benefit the nonprofit group.

Organizers said, "Orchid prices will start at as little as $1, so it’s a great chance to expand your collection or start a wonderful new hobby."

Members will bring orchids for sale (some in bloom and some not) and the public is invited to participate.

You don’t need to be an orchid society member.

The picnic starts at 5 p.m., and the auction will begin at 7 p.m.

The orchid society will provide hamburgers and hotdogs; members and visitors are asked to bring a side dish, a dessert or chips and soda.

Parking is free. Riverpark Pavilion No. 3 is right off Amnicola Highway. The entrance is a quarter mile west of Chattanooga State University.

The Tennessee Valley Orchid Society is a non-profit organization devoted to education for orchid growers and encouragement for all who share the membership’s interest in beautiful orchid flowers and healthy plants.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
