Organizing for America and the Hamilton County Democratic Party are joining over 20 events statewide and hundreds nationwide in the National Health Care Day of Service.
The Chattanooga group is hosting a Healthy Food Bank Drive to highlight President Obama’s health care reform principles that call on congress for health care reform that reduces costs for family, businesses, and government; protects the choice of doctors and insurers; and assures affordable, quality health care for all Americans.
President Obama’s approach to health care reform prioritizes prevention. The Healthy Food Bank Drive brings people healthy food, encouraging good nutrition and wellness in the community.
All food collected will be donated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, and oatmeal.
The food bank drive is set for Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at 420 Frazier Ave., just before Veterans Bridge.
