Lookout Mountain Police Nab 2 Burglary Suspects

Thursday, June 25, 2009

Lookout Mountain, Tn., Police officers on Thursday afternoon nabbed two burglary suspects - catching them with the goods after a neighbor called in a tip.

Chief Randy Bowden said Lookout officers had been on the lookout after four homes were burglarized on Monday morning. He said items taken then included flat-screen TVs, laptop computers, some cash and jewelry and sterling silver flatware.

He said officers received a call from a resident of West Sunset shortly after noon on Thursday saying she was watching two black males loading items into their vehicles.

Chief Bowden said four units sped to the scene, but the pair had gotten out of the driveway by the time officers arrived. He said units sealed off the two roads up the mountain - Scenic Highway and Ochs Highway.

A unit stopped the pair in the 800 block of Scenic Highway.

He said items taken from the residence on West Sunset matched those found in the vehicle. They included two rifles and a shotgun, a flat-screen TV, a laptop computer and a CD player. Drugs were also found in the car.

Police said Prentice Toney, 22, and Toney Pruitt, 21, were charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.

They were taken to the Hamilton County Jail after being interviewed.

He said they are expected to also be charged with the Monday break-ins.

Chief Bowden said warrants are out for Pruitt in Chattanooga and in Georgia.
