Prized Tennessee Elk Permit on eBay July 16th

Friday, June 26, 2009

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation (TWRF) was the successful applicant for a Request For Proposals (RFP) that TWRA issued in March of this year for a Special Elk Take Permit. This permit will be one of five (5) bull elk tags to be issued to sportsmen for the 2009 Elk Season.

The four (4) additional permits were issued to applicants drawn through the TWRA quota hunt drawing system. Winners were announced at the June 17-18 meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission. The winners, all Tennessee residents, were Craig Gardner, of Parrotsville, Charles Ray Flynn of Rockford, Ronald L. Woodard, of Oak Ridge, and Jeffrey L. Moses, of Cleveland.

This remaining special permit will be auctioned off to the successful high bidder through an eBay auction July 16th through the 25th. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this special elk tag will go to the exclusive benefit of the elk restoration program. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation is partnering with, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), the Tennessee Wildlife Federation (TWF), and Safari Club International (SCI) on the promotion and sale of this Elk Tag.

For more information visit www.twrf.net.

The elk hunt will take place at the North Cumberland WMA in East Tennessee from October 19th to the 23rd of 2009. All 5 hunters will also be invited to attend an elk camp complete with wall tents, campfires, meals, and entertainment. The elk camp will be held at the property of Terry Lewis near the North Cumberland WMA Elk Viewing Tower. Sponsors for the event include TWRF, TWRA, TWF, RMEF, and Campbell Outdoor Recreation Association (CORA).

This is Tennessee’s first elk hunt in almost 150 years, and the hunters who participate should expect a hunt of a lifetime.

TWRF is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization dedicated promoting habitat conservation, an ethic of land stewardship, and Tennessee’s hunting and fishing heritage for the benefit of TWRA and Tennessee’s outdoor enthusiasts.

Roy Exum: Stop The Emissions Hoax

Eva Milligan, just one of very many across the state who are fed up with Tennessee’s ridiculous auto emissions effort, wrote a letter to Chattanoogan.com last week that painfully told how she had spent over $1,000 to get her 1997 Ford Ranger through the scam and how she was still unsuccessful. She also pointed out such testing is fruitless – except to government coffers – and ... (click for more)
