A woman who sued a local condominium association has wound up getting a year in federal prison.
Karen Hethcoat was sentenced on Thursday by Judge Curtis Collier for making a false declaration before a grand jury.
Ms. Hethcoat had sued Continental Condominiums Association alleging discrimination. She said the association had refused to sell her a condo because she had a 14-year-old son.
During a deposition on Sept. 26, 2006, it was charged that Ms. Hethcoat made a false statement - that she had $12,000 in her credit union account. Authorities said she actually had $915.44 in the account.
