It’s about time! Lookout Mountain residents are excited about the opening of a new restaurant named “Guthrie’s.” The “original chicken finger specialist” is set to open on Wednesday, June 17, in the business district of Lookout Mountain, Tn.

The actual location is the former Tucker’s Lookout Mountain Cleaners. After a long facelift, Guthrie’s owner Will Garrett tells me that he is excited to bring this new business to Lookout.

The history of Guthrie’s goes back to 1965. The first location was opened in Haleyville, Ala., as a full service restaurant. In 1978, the chicken fingers were added to the menu complemented by the “original famous sauce” which was a creation of 10 year-old Hud Guthrie. The idea of serving chicken fingers as the only entrée was implemented in 1982.

According to Mr. Garrett, the sauce is the kicker. Besides the chicken fingers, on the menu you will find hot and mild wings and salads.

Although some of the more than 50 Guthrie’s locations serve breakfast, for now the Lookout Mountain location will be open only for lunch and dinner until 9 p.m. The restaurant will accommodate about 44 patrons inside, but keep in mind that carry-out is an option and delivery with a minimum $20 purchase and a distance that is within a reasonable radius of the location will also be available. Just having quality food at a decent price and at a convenient location, I’ll take it out anytime.

Guthrie’s mission is “to serve hot and delicious, reasonable-priced food in a clean and pleasant environment.” Sounds good to me.

Welcome, Mr. Garrett and Guthrie’s to Lookout Mountain. We’re glad you’re here.

Meo Mio’s Cajun & Seafood Restaurant Is A Hit

We’ve found a new place that we really like!  Meo Mio’s Cajun & Seafood Restaurant at 4119 Cummings Highway (the old Patrick’s location).   We were greeted at the door as if we were arriving for a party.  The friendly hostess was distributing Mardi Gras beads to all the “party guests” (customers).  Décor is very cheerful and eye catching.  On one ... New Website Aims To Breathe Life Into Local Catering Scene

A Chattanooga man has launched a new website in hopes of assisting local catering business owners to showcase their services, and helping fellow Chattanoogans on their quest to find the right caterer for their special occasion. While scouring the usual search engines for a catering service in early 2011, CaterHub.com founder Scott Veltkamp discovered what he calls a lack of “web ... (click for more)

Pickup Truck Crosses To Wrong Side Of Hixson Pike: Other Driver Killed

A pickup truck went across Hixson Pike into the opposing lane of traffic on Saturday afternoon, then struck another vehicle. The driver of that car was killed. At 4:51 p.m., Chattanooga Police officers responded to the traffic crash at 4900 Hixson Pike.  The officers found that a pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man was southbound on Highway 153 and exited onto southbound ... Signs Vandalized At Cummings Cove As Battle With OHV Owners Continues

Two large advertising signs at the Cummings Cove development in Lookout Valley were vandalized Friday. One sign was spray painted with an expletive and another had the word "Aetna" in large letters.  There has been a long-running dispute between owners of Cummings Cove and those who enjoy going up the old Aetna Mountain Road to ride off-highway vehicles. Cummings ... (click for more)

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: The Sadness Of The Recall

Judge Jeff Hollingsworth, his eagle eyes zeroed on the U.S. Constitution and the laws that have been put into place since it was adopted in 1787, ended the recall of Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield Friday afternoon, but the pall of sadness that the effort cast over the city will last for a lot longer. If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
