Valitus and Dorothy Edwards took their grandchildren on a special trip a few days ago and were rewarded with some special letters.

Mr. Edwards, of Chattanooga, said, "June 1-3, we took our grandchildren to a Westgate Resort water park in Gatlinburg for our second annual after-school vacation. Last year it was Helen, Ga.

"Kaitlyn is eight, Caleb nine and Joshua is 12.

"They mailed letters to us thanking us and giving us the highlights of their stay.

"It was interesting to see that their levels of writing reflects their chronological ages and grade levels."

Dear grandmother and granddaddy,

Thank you for taking us. I had so much fun with you. My favorite thing that we did was the water slide. The hotel was also O.K. It had lots of rooms and lots of nice people. The hotel had a great design. I would love for you to take us again so we can tell scary stories.

Your grandson,

Caleb

I love you with all my heart!!!

Dear Grandmother and Granddaddy,

Thank you for taking us to Gatlinburg. We had so much fun there that if we went there a million times it will still be fun. My favorite thing to do was just to relax in the big pool with those floats. The water was so warm. I enjoyed having to spend the past 3 days with you. I look forward to spending more time with you. You guys are the best! Love you bye.

Your grandson

Joshua

P.S. I look forward to playing the drums also.

Rep. Vince Dean has picked up papers to run for the Senate District 10 seat now held by Democrat Andy Berke. And Rep. Tommie Brown picked up papers to retain her District 28 seat. Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
