The Philadelphia Phillies honor the memory of Harry Kalas by hanging his jacket and placing his white shoes at the end of the dugout.
The Hall of Fame broadcaster was in his 39th season as narrator of all things Phillies when he collapsed in the broadcast booth died April 13th after being rushed to a nearby hospital. He was 73.
Kalas and Richie Ashburn became beloved figures in Philadelphia, and also became best friends. They worked together for 27 seasons until Ashburn's sudden passing on September 9, 1997 of a heart attack in his sleep in a New York City hotel room after broadcasting a Phillies/Mets game at Shea Stadium.
Atlanta Braves fans can relate to the Phillies' loss with the death of their longtime broadcaster Skip Caray who passed away last year.
