Tennessee American Water announced on Wednesday, a water main replacement project on Standifer Gap Road from
Standifer Chase to Lee Highway. The main replacement is part of Tennessee
American Water’s on-going infrastructure enhancement projects and will improve service reliability for its customers.
The cost of the project is approximately $170,000. The project will replace 1,875 feet of eight-inch
plastic water pipe with eight-inch ductile iron water pipe.
Kim Dalton, external affairs manager for Tennessee American Water, said, “This is another example of the commitment Tennessee American Water has to our customers. These regular, annual investments in our community are required to maintain the high-quality, reliable service our customers have come to expect.”
“The water main undergoing replacement is a plastic PVC line that has experienced leaks over the last year. When these leaks occur, they can cause customers to be inconvenienced with low water pressure or no water service during the repair process.
“For more than 140 years, Tennessee American Water has been making these
types of investments to maintain and upgrade the water mains in our water
delivery system’s infrastructure.”
Starting around July 1, Tennessee American Water’s construction crews will be working weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Construction will be on Standifer Gap Road from Standifer Chase ending at Lee Highway.
Tennessee American Water expects to complete the pipe upgrades, weather
permitting, by the end of September.
During the course of this capital improvement projects, customers may
experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Tennessee American Water appreciates the patience of area residents and customers while this work is occurring. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
