Being in the news business, I'm well aware that many of the "911 call" stories reported in the media are negative. Whenever there are delays, misunderstandings and snafus related to 911 calls, they're all over the news.
A few days ago, I had personal experience with a 911 call and I would like to publicly thank all of the emergency personnel involved for their amazingly quick response and excellent work.
There was no time to get names or unit numbers. I can only tell you that Chattanooga Fire Department workers, EMTs, Chattanooga Police and ambulance crews were prompt, polite and efficient.
They took control of the situation and handled it flawlessly. I wish I could thank them all by name.
If any of you are reading this, please accept my thanks for your good work. I know it sometimes seems like the only time you get attention is when something goes wrong. But the overwhelming majority of the time, you do your jobs well.
Your excellent work, at 2:30 a.m. on a Monday, made me proud and thankful to be a Chattanooga resident.
