Mary Ellen Lewis Barker, 88, died at NHC Dunlap on Thursday, July 2, 2009, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Barker was a lifelong member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Barker; sons, Jerry Barker and Wayne Barker, she was the last surviving sibling of a family of 12.

Survivors include her son, Stanley (Debbie) Barker, Dunlap; grandchildren, Christa (Jeremy) Bradford, Garrett (Karen) Barker, Corey (Christie) Barker, all of Dunlap, Sherry (Shane) Bickford, Brockdell; great-grandchildren, Jared Barker, Drew Barker, Griffin Barker, Emma Bradford, Carter Bradford, and Ethan Barker, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. CDT on Monday, July 5, in Ewton Funeral Home chapel with Brother Tom Tucker and Brother Terry Barker officiating.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers are Alan Barker, Benny Barker, Garrett Barker, Richard Bryant, Randy Abercrombie and Keith Cartwright.
