A house in East Ridge was heavily damaged by fire early Sunday Morning.
At approximately 5:24 a.m., East Ridge Fire/Rescue and Police responded to 1015 Hurst St.
Neighbors called 911 to report that the home was on fire. First responders quickly arrived on scene to find approximately half of the house heavily involved in fire and smoke.
Firefighters and police were soon able to determine that no occupants were inside the home. However, firefighters did search the structure as a precaution.
Firefighters were able to cut the fire off and limit any further spread. However, the rest of the house sustained significant heat and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by East Ridge fire/arson investigators. Damage is estimated to be at least $50,000.
Units responding to the scene included East Ridge Engine 1, Engine 2, Squad 2, Quint 1, Rescue 1, and Support 1. Fort Oglethorpe Engine 1 responded on automatic aid. Memorial EMS also responded for standby.
