Third District Congressional Candidate Robin Smith has been recognized by the grassroots organization, Americans For Prosperity, for pledging to oppose new taxes on the American people under the provisions of the “Cap and Trade” bill passed by the House earlier this year.
In signing the pledge, Ms. Smith joins national leaders such as Senator John Thune (R-SD) and Republican House Leader John Boehner (R-OH) to oppose climate change legislation that mandates new or higher taxes on working Americans.
“Using the guise of climate change to transfer dollars from hard-working citizens to bureaucratic big government is unacceptable,” said AFP Policy Director Phil Kerpen. “Regardless of their stance on global warming, this should be common ground for all of our elected officials at all levels of government.”

As a kayaker and someone who has always enjoyed the great natural beauty of the Third District, I have been a strong advocate for preserving our natural resources, but we must deal honestly with the climate change issue. Using concerns for our environment to squeeze more tax money out of the people during a deep recession is irresponsible policy and AFP is leading the way to expose the truth.
