Kemp Scores Winning Goal As McCallie Rallies Past Tyner

Friday, September 11, 2009 - by special report to The Chattanoogan

Once again, McCallie got it done in the second half.

A second-half team all season, the Blue Tornado rallied past host Tyner, 20-19, in a high school football game Friday night.

Tyner led, 19-7, with just over 10 minutes to play Friday night.

With 4:51 to play, Justin Simerly caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Trent Lusk and McCallie pulled within 19-14, on Hudson Brock's point-after kick.

With only 1:24 to play, T.J. Kemp then ran for the winning touchdown on a 2-yard run. The conversion pass failed and McCallie hung on for the 20-19 victory, its fourth straight this season.

"We're 4-0 but we're not done,'' Kemp said. "We've worked so hard and the guys have been so dedicated.

"We were just missing a few key blocks, but we made some adjustments in the second half. Our coaches have all been involved at a higher level of competition and they can make some great halftime adjustments.''

Kemp ran for 79 yards on 22 carries for the Blue Tornado. He also scored on a 1-yard un in the second quarter.

Tyner slipped to 1-3.

Vince Dean Picks Up For Senate Race; Tommie Brown Headed For Contest With JoAnne Favors

Rep. Vince Dean has picked up papers to run for the Senate District 10 seat now held by Democrat Andy Berke. And Rep. Tommie Brown picked up papers to retain her District 28 seat. That sets up a clash with Rep. JoAnne Favors, who picked up for District 28 earlier. Under Republican redistricting, Rep. Favors wound up in the Brown district. Rep. Dean, a Republican from East ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
