Chattanooga Police along with Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies were able to arrest a carjacking suspect without incident on Monday after being told of his whereabouts.
Shawn Lee Foote was arrested for carjacking, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and theft over $1,000 following an incident that occurred in the county.
Chattanooga Police received a tip that Foote was at the America's Best Value Inn at 7705 Lee Highway. After verifying Foote's rental of a room at the motel, police were able to negotiate his surrender without incident.
Due to the number of charges and the existence of another fugitive, Justin Miller, in the room, on-duty SWAT members were called out to assist in the apprehension of the two men. Both were taken into custody without incident.
Police said on Monday at 3:28 p.m., deputies responded to 3909 East Brainerd Road. John Travis Price said he was leaving his girlfriend's house and was driving Megan Matney's gold 1998 Nissan Altima.
He said he stopped at the end of the drive to check on a friend, Lloyd Nelson. He said Foote was at Nelson's house. He said Foote wanted him to give him a ride, but he declined.
He said Foote began hitting him with his fists and knocked him to the ground. He said Foote reached into his pocket and took his billfold. He said he took $200 in cash and an MP-3 player.
Foote then took the keys to the Nissan and drove away. He said Foote took the car, though he begged him not to.
He said Foote had pulled his driver's license from the billfold and directed him not to call police.
Foote, 29, of 8109 Sue Dr., Ooltewah,
is held on $35,000 bond.
He is due in General Sessions Court on Sept. 24.
