MBA Ends Baylor's Unbeaten Streak With 17-0 Win

Thursday, September 17, 2009 - by special report to The Chattanoogan

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Baylor's unbeaten season came to a halt here Thursday night.

Montgomery Bell Academy, which lost last week to Ensworth, 50-21, defeated Baylor, 17-0, in a Division II high school football game.

Baylor dropped to 4-1 and MBA moved to 3-2.

MBA was without starting quarterback Luke Colbert, who was lost for the season with a fractured vertebrae in the loss to Ensworth.

Running back Fitz Lassing took up the slack, running some quarterback in the wildcat formation, by scoring both MBA touchdowns on runs of 7 and 4 yards. He rushed for 92 yards on 15 carries.

Backup MBA quarterback Van East completed 7-of-11 passes for 145 yards.

Andrew Fletcher kicked two point-afters and a 24-yard field goal as MBA scored all its points in the first half.

Baylor quarterback Jacob Huesman was 16-for-31 for 162 yards, but threw two interceptions. Huesman had 12 carries for 51 yards.

Matthew Oollerich caught six passes for 71 yards for Baylor.

Baylor running back Sam Williams returned to the lineup, but was ineffective against MBA.

Ensworth, which ended MBA's 15-game home winning streak two weeks ago, plays at McCallie on Friday night.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
