The employees of Bruster’s Ice Cream in East Brainerd teamed up to raise $3,000 for the local Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee. The employees (mostly high school and college kids) gave up their tips for four months, collected donations at the window and held an ice cream eating contest to raise the money.
“I am very proud of our employees for embracing this idea and sacrificing their own tips to grant the wish of Peyton," said Renee Jones of Bruster’s Ice Cream. “We were able to meet Peyton and hear about his wish and we worked hard to make his wish come true.”
As part of the Adopt-A-Wish program, Bruster’s Ice Cream will help to grant the “one true wish” of Peyton.
“While the average wish costs $6,000, we have wishes to grant ranging from $3,000 to $12,000” said Bob Lewis, president and CEO of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. “Their wish could be anything from a swing set to a trip to Disney World to dance with Cinderella.”
“We are proud that we have been able to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee to help grant a child’s wish” said Ms. Jones. “Our team worked hard to raise this money and enjoyed being part of this special project.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
