The Gibson Brothers Wrap Up Nightfall Season Friday

Monday, September 21, 2009

The Chattanooga Downtown Partnership concludes its 2009 Nightfall Concert Series Friday on the BlueCross Stage in Miller Plaza with bluegrass act The Gibson Brothers.

Review for The Gibson Brothers:
With harmonies reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, this band captures a lot of the true feelings of country's roots in their upstate New York version of bluegrass. What truly stands out about their music is that they're also songwriters working with a contemporary lexicon of language and issues.

The Gibson Brothers just released a new album in May, titled Ring the Bell. Fans have described the album as, “Beautiful. Timeless. Wrenching.”

Opening act Dismembered Tennesseans will take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by The Gibson Brothers at 8 p.m.

Celebrating its 21st season, this free concert series continues to bring an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, reggae, zydeco, funk, bluegrass and folk music to Downtown Chattanooga. This 17-week series is held on the BlueCross Stage in Miller Plaza on Friday evenings from Memorial Day weekend through Sept. 25. Beer, wine, food and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed.

Win the chance to see Nightfall artists in stage-side seating in Herman Miller chairs, courtesy of Office Coordinators Inc. Four seats, along with some free drinks and indoor restroom access, will be available for purchase each week through a silent auction bid which may be placed at the Nightfall table, or on the Nightfall website at www.downtownchattanooga.org .

Roy Exum: Stop The Emissions Hoax

Eva Milligan, just one of very many across the state who are fed up with Tennessee’s ridiculous auto emissions effort, wrote a letter to Chattanoogan.com last week that painfully told how she had spent over $1,000 to get her 1997 Ford Ranger through the scam and how she was still unsuccessful. She also pointed out such testing is fruitless – except to government coffers – and ... (click for more)
