Police said a resident of Janeview Road said men who came to his door saying they were Jehovah's Witnesses left with his $200 weedeater and $175 hedge trimmer.
Will Bailey said two men came to the door saying they were passing out religious tracts. He told them he was not interested.
He said he became suspicious when he heard three doors slam on their vehicle.
He hurried out and saw they had taken the weedeater and hedge trimmer that were by his driveway.
They left in a gray station wagon, he said.

Amrey Sawyer of Northside Drive was gone just long enough to take his sister to work.
When he returned, he noticed that a bathroom screen had been damaged and the blinds were pulled up.
Items missing include a laptop computer and jewelry.

Henry Cannon, manager of Wendy's on East Brainerd Road, said in the recent flooding a car that was submerged in water hit one of the restaurant's brick walls.
The damage to the wall and the interior amounted to $7,000.

Edwin Reeves said he was walking at Tyner Redoubt on Bonny Oaks Drive when he spotted a white vehicle next to his 2007 Jeep Commander. He also said a white male looking into his vehicle.
As he walked back to his vehicle, he saw the white car drive off.
A parks and recreation staff member told him he had heard two loud bangs. He found that the rear passenger window of the Jeep had been knocked out.
Mr. Reeves said his wallet, with $320 and credit cards, was gone.
The parks staff member said the vehicle was a Ford Focus.

Robert McGiffin of Farris Road told officers he got a letter in the mail announcing that he had won $4,800. He was sent a check for that amount.
He was instructed to deposit the check, then mail back $3,650 to cover "taxes."
Police said it was "more than likely a scam" and advised Mr. McGiffin not to deposit the check.
