Huesman Scores Four Touchdowns As Baylor Remains Unbeaten

Red Raiders Roll Past BGA, 34-14

Friday, September 04, 2009 - by special report to The Chattanoogan

Jacob Huesman and his father, Russ Huesman, have something in common.

They are both still undefeated.

Jacob Huesman scored four touchdowns on Friday night in leading Baylor's Red Raiders past Battle Ground Academy, 34-14, in a Division II high school football game at Baylor.

It was Baylor's third straight victory of the 2009 season.

On Thursday night, Huesman's father -- Russ Huesman -- led UTC's Mocs past Glenville State, 30-13, in his first game as the UTC head football coach.

Baylor moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2003, but the Red Raiders didn't win another game that season.

Jacob Huesman was magnificent -- running for 168 yards on nine carries and scoring touchdowns on runs of 25, 2, 26 and 71 yards.

The Red Raiders' quarterback also completed 4-of-10 passes for 54 yards and one interception.

Nelson Pinkstaff ran for 80 yards on 20 carries for Baylor and scored on an 8-yard run.

Baylor was once again without star running back Sam Williams, who was out with an hamstring injury. The Red Raiders were also without defensive lineman John Mackey, who was out with a broken thumb.

John Cofer and Brandon Eaves each had an interception for Baylor.

Michael Moore ran for 115 yards on 27 carries for BGA (1-2).

Blake Thomson ran for both of BGA's touchdowns, both on 1-yard runs.

Vince Dean Picks Up For Senate Race; Tommie Brown Headed For Contest With JoAnne Favors

Rep. Vince Dean has picked up papers to run for the Senate District 10 seat now held by Democrat Andy Berke. And Rep. Tommie Brown picked up papers to retain her District 28 seat. That sets up a clash with Rep. JoAnne Favors, who picked up for District 28 earlier. Under Republican redistricting, Rep. Favors wound up in the Brown district. Rep. Dean, a Republican from East ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
