Louise Baker Rusbridge Posey, 94, of Chattanooga, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.

Louise was born in Cleveland, Tn., on March 28, 1915. She was the eldest of eight children and throughout her life remained extremely close to her brothers and sisters.

Louise was a member of the Eastern Star Order and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Louise and Rusty were also of the original members of the Wolftever Fishing Club and spent many happy summers there.

Affectionately known as “Nana” by those closest to her, Louise was always known for her sunny disposition and kind words for every situation. She loved living life and her time on this Earth was lived to the fullest.

Nana lived for many years in New Orleans before settling back in the Chattanooga area in 1950. She was married to her true love, “Rusty” for forty years and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. One of her greatest joys in life was the special bond she had with her granddaughter and taking care of her “little Robin.”

Louise touched the lives of everyone she knew and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Norton Clark Rusbridge; second husband, Major Barron B. Posey; brothers, Raymond, William and Russell Baker, and her granddaughter, Robin Elizabeth Shelton.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Rusbridge Shelton (Dr. Robert), granddaughter, LeAnn Shelton Merrell; great-grandchildren, Jacob DiChiacchio, McClain Merrell and Alexandria Merrell; sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth Touchstone, Mrs. Katherine Morgan, Mrs. Betty Cawood (Henley), and Mrs. Barbara Mason (Gene). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, including Rita Touchstone Foster and Judith Cawood Shirley who lovingly shared many happy adventures with her in her later years.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 14, at the North Chapel with Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating.

Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the North Chapel.
