The Chattanooga History Center will offer a three-weeks discussion series, "Southern History in Movies," at 7:00pm on Tuesdays, February 2, 9 and 16.
The series, facilitated by the History Center’s Executive Director and Historian, Dr. Daryl Black, will be held at the Center’s temporary location, 615 Lindsay Street, Suite 100. The program is free to the public, and pre-registration is required by February 1st.
In this series, we will look at three movies which have impacted our perception of our region. Participants will watch the movies on their own, and gather for informal discussions that are always interesting and lots of fun.
The movies are:
* February 2
"Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier" (1955). Produced by Walt Disney, directed by Norman Foster, and starring Fess Parker.
*February 9
"To Kill A Mockingbird" (1962). Directed by Robert Mulligan, and starring Gregory Peck.
* February 16
"White Lightning" (1973). Directed by Joseph Sargent and starring Burt Reynolds.
