Mt. Vernon Brings Back Early Bird Specials, Updates Kids Menu

Mt. Vernon Restaurant at the foot of Lookout Mountain is bringing back the early bird special.

The venerable restaurant is also updating its kids menu.

On the latter topic, Jeff Messinger, owner, said, "Things don't change very often at Mt. Vernon in 55 years, but we felt it was finally time to have some new items for children. We want to become more of a place for the entire family."

Available for children starting Thursday will be hot dogs with homemade Texas chili, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, chili and cheese nachos, kids pasta with marinara or alfredo sauce, hamburgers and chicken fingers.

Mr. Messinger said the early bird specials are for those who arrive between 4-6 p.m.

It includes entrees with savings from $2 to $4 from the regular menu. One side item is included.

The early bird menu started Monday.

The specials on Wednesday included Southern fried chicken $8.95, sauteed chicken livers $8.95, ground sirloin steak $9.95, filet of haddock $12.95, filet of grouper $12.95, Panko crusted fried Gulf shrip $13.95 and filet of Norwegian salmon $13.95.

Dubs Place Open In Red Bank

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
