Leonard "Leo" "LJ" Martof, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home in East Brainerd, Tn.
He was 85 years old and was born in Crucible, Pa., in 1924. Leo was the son of Michael and Mary (Bandish) Martof of Carmichaels, Pa.
In WWII he served as a sergeant with the 34th Bomb Group in Europe and also participated in relief efforts after the war. He was a member of the VFW Post 6303 in Greensboro, Pa. After the war he married Elizabeth Margetich of Jefferson, Pa., at St. Marcellus Church in Mather, Pa.
They had two sons, Jim who resides in Chattanooga, and Tom of Salem, Oh.
Leo worked for U.S. Steel (Rubina Coal), Chrysler and retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Oh., where he worked as a machinist/machine repair person and was a member of UAW Local 1112.
He is survived by his sons, six grandchildren; and two of five brothers and his sister.
A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, at the Lesako Funeral Home in Carmichaels, Pa. The interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Crucible, Pa.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 2-4 p.m.
at Lesako Funeral Home.
