Crime Stoppers: Burglaries At Howard High

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

This week Chattanooga Police property crimes investigators are seeking information on two burglaries that occurred at Howard High School at 2500 Market St.

The first burglary occurred on Jan. 6 close to midnight. The unknown suspects entered the school through an unsecured window and made their way to the principal’s office. They broke a window to make entry into the office and took 22 Dell laptop computers, model E6400, 15 Sansafuze MP3 players, and two $100 Visa gift cards. The total loss is estimated to be $22,650.

The suspects exited the school through double doors, loaded the computers into the bed of a truck and left the scene.

The second burglary occurred sometime between Jan. 7-11. This time, the suspects forced a window open in a classroom and made their way to the television broadcasting room. They entered the room by breaking a window on the door and took seven Apple iMac laptops valued at $3,100 each and a DVD burner valued at $1,600. The loss is estimated to be $23,300.

It is believed that the suspects were driving a car because they left the spare tire at the scene in order to make room for the computers in the trunk.

The stolen computers can be identified as such through the Chattanooga Police Department. If you have purchased a Dell or iMac laptop recently and you think it may be stolen, call the police department for verification.

To report any information on either of these burglaries, call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333. The confidential call could result a reward of up to $1,000.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ...
