EPB Hopes To Get All Online Today

Sunday, January 31, 2010

The EPB by 7 a.m. on Sunday had cut the number of its customers without power due to a major winter storm to 3,000.

The EPB's Lacie Newton said, "We continued to work throughout the night last night to restore power to about 4,000 customers and we will continue working today to bring service back to the remaining 3,000 customers with outages at this time.

"We'll also work any new outages that may occur today, like we experienced Saturday, if trees continue to fall.

"We are doing all we can to get everyone's power back on and we expect the restoration effort will need to continue throughout today and perhaps into tonight."

She added, "If you are without power and have not reported it, or if you experience an outage today, please call 423 648-1EPB (1372) to report your power outage."

By 5:55 p.m. Saturday the EPB had cut the list of EPB customers without power to approximately 9,500. It was down to approximately 7,000 EPB customers by 10:30 p.m.

The areas with the most outages on Saturday night included Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Soddy Daisy and Sale Creek.

EPB officials urged area residents to stay away from any downed power lines.

The major ice storm caused numerous heavy limbs and trees to fall, causing new outages.
