Haslam Says He Has Raised $5.7 Million For Governor Race

Sunday, January 31, 2010

The Bill Haslam gubernatorial campaign announced today that it has set fund-raising records with a total of $5,737,583.46 brought in from more than 7,300 contributions during the first year of his campaign - $1 million and 1,300 contributions more than any previous statewide Tennessee campaign at this point.

Officials said, "Bill Haslam’s fund-raising success is directly related to his hard work on the trail and supporters’ enthusiasm for his message. His fund-raising total reflects that effort with 7,344 total contributions, building upon his previous record-breaking campaign finance report announced last summer."

“The support Crissy and I receive on the campaign trail is humbling,” said the Knoxville mayor. “Our message of growing and retaining jobs, conservative budget management and putting education on the right track is connecting in all corners of the state, and we won’t stop now. We’ll continue to bring Tennesseans that message county by county, door by door.”

He said he has traveled more than 50,000 miles back and forth across the state, knocking on doors and visiting all 95 counties on the campaign trail.

“We’re more than a year into our fundraising effort, and our donors remain invigorated by Bill and his ability and his passion for strengthening the state of Tennessee,” said Kim Kaegi, finance director for the Haslam campaign. “We’re approximately $1 million ahead of any previous statewide efforts at this point in the campaign, comparatively.

“In addition, we’ve received 7,344 total contributions, which surpasses previous records by 1,300. It also is worth pointing out that there are no loans from the candidate reflected in our total fund-raising numbers.”
