A kitchen fire damaged a house on Tyner Road around noon Saturday.
At 12:06 p.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 7023 Tyner Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters from Quint 8 made an interior attack on the structure fire. They reported that there was a working structure fire in the kitchen of the single-story residence. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze to the one room of the house.
Damage from the fire was kept to a minimum. However, there was smoke damage throughout the structure.
No one was at home when the fire initially broke out, but when the family returned home they discovered the fire. Two residents were treated by Hamilton County EMS for minor smoke inhalation, but were not transported to the hospital.
Firefighters did rescue the family’s dog from the structure. The dog was unhurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Lieutenant Anthony Moore with the fire investigation division.
Damage to the structure is estimated at $10,000.
Quint 8, Quint 6, Quint 13 and Squad 3 were dispatched to this call and were on the scene within five minutes, and the firefighters reported the fire under control within 20 minutes from the time of the initial alarm.
The Chattanooga Fire Department was assisted by the Chattanooga Police Department and Hamilton County EMS.
No other injuries were reported at the incident.
