Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau Revs Up Their Engines And Hits The Rubber To The Road

Monday, October 25, 2010

If there’s a winding scenic road in the Tri-state area, Eddie Rahm has ridden it at least once. And if there’s one he’s missed, it’s just a matter of time before he’ll be out exploring it.

Passionate about the never-ending pursuit of adventure and freedom on the back roads, Mr. Rahm has spent nearly three years documenting these roads to be able to share them with others.

The Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with Mr. Rahm to offer this new Bikers’ Dozen website. The Bikers’ Dozen is compiled of 13 detailed routes, each including maps, personal accounts, photos and written descriptions – designed to make the roads easy to find and navigate.

The loops vary in skill level from very curvy mountain roads to the laid-back state highways through farm country. All loops begin and end in Chattanooga and were chosen & written by Mr. Rahm.

“Being part of a family that has resided in the Chattanooga area for five generations, I felt like it was time to give back to the city that has given so much to my family over the years. The motorcycle community continues to grow and I want them to have the opportunity to fully appreciate and enjoy the back roads of the tri-state area, with its unsurpassed beauty and quality of life,” said Mr. Rahm, Bikers’ Dozen founder.

“The rides are great no matter what you’re riding – cruiser, sportbike, motard, touring or anything in between. We might even let people with four wheels venture out on the loops.”

The Tri-state area is rich in historical Southern culture defined by the people, attractions and festivals and will provide motorcyclists with some distinctive opportunities.

Now with the cooler temperatures of autumn, it’s a perfect time to get out and explore the exceptionally beautiful area as the foliage turns into a picturesque tapestry of red, gold, and green.

Steve Genovesi, Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau VP of sales and marketing, said, “Chattanooga has earned a great reputation as a motorcycle-friendly community. We’ve hosted some key events like the national H.O.G. Rally, Star Days Touring and Riding and regional and state rallies. These groups always rave about how vibrant & friendly the community is. When they are not out on the scenic rides, they are enjoying our attractions and restaurants and making an impact on the city by organizing food and clothing drives for local charities. We appreciate everything that Eddie has done in developing this organized and interactive website.”

Charlie Peavyhouse Is Irreplaceable

I was saddened to read where Charlie Peavyhouse passed away several days ago, and then my sadness turned to joy.   The joy stems from knowing Charlie for more than a decade and knowing the reach he had in this community. Whether it was as an educator, a political activist, a wildlife lover or one of the best gardeners around, he was very instrumental in a vast number of ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: I Guarantee You’ll Cry

I believe that every single person on earth is blessed with a unique talent, a special calling, and should spend a lifetime - if it takes that - searching to identify and fulfill their dream. Mine, as I found out some years ago, is trying to tell stories. Nothing gives my heart more of a thrill and my soul more redemption than sharing a wonderful story that I hope will cause a similar ...
