Lookout Valley Christmas Parade Is Dec. 11

The 20th Annual Lookout Valley Community Christmas Parade will be on Dec. 11.

Line up begins at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with the parade beginning around 12:30 p.m. This year's starting point this year has changed to Lookout Valley Elementary School and will end at Wal-Mart off Cummings Highway.

All parade participants are encourage to come to John A. Patten Recreation Center for fun, music, and entertainment. Trophies will be given out for first, second, and third place for best decorative floats.

Anyone wanting to be in the parade must fill an application out on the day of the parade or by picking them up at the Patten Recreation Center.

East Ridge Announces Hours For Holiday Weekend

The city of East Ridge will observe Friday for the Fourth of July holiday. There will be no garbage collection and all offices will be closed; however, recycling services will pick up on Friday. The library will be closed on Friday and Saturday.  (click for more)

Healy Says Bass Pro Shop At East Ridge To Get Underway Next Month, New Hotel, Restaurants Planned Nearby; Sewers Are An Issue

Commercial realtor John Healy said Thursday that construction is set to start next month on the Bass Pro Shop at Exit 1 in East Ridge. He said it is due to open next May. An Atlanta developer said work will start in October on a $28 million retail, office and apartment complex in the long-vacant middle of the 700 block of Market Street.
