Chattanooga firefighters responded to an apartment building fire early Tuesday morning. The firefighters received the alarm at 5:47 a.m. and responded to 6234 Bonny Oaks Dr. with six fire companies.

Flames were already shooting through the roof of the two-story building when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Battalion Chief Mike Knox said it took the firefighters about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Fire Investigator Andy Waters said the building is believed to contain eight apartment units, and all appeared to be unoccupied. An estimate on the dollar loss was not available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A section of Bonny Oaks Drive in front of Walt's Sports Bar was shut down completely during the firefighting operation. It was expected to be reopened later this morning.
