Engineers from the Society of Women Engineers and Engineering students from UTC and Chattanooga Statewill will lead guests in hands-on exploration of engineering concepts at the Creative Discovery Museum on Feb. 13 from 12-4 p.m. The professionals will share their work and expertise in each major engineering field, including mechanical, electrical, civil, and chemical.
Whether building a cup tower that reaches the second floor, learning about a chemical reaction or designing a new type of vehicle, guests will have a blast with the limitless possibilities when engineering principles are applied, officials said.
Just a few of the activities that will combine fun with basic lessons in science and engineering include:
Constructing a Cup Tower -- Visitors will attempt to build a tower out of plastic cups as tall as the ceiling in the Museum's two-story Atrium.
Gum Drop Building –Guests will learn secrets in design that will help them make even the gummiest materials sturdy foundations.
Hoop Glider -- One drinking straw plus two strips of paper… How far will it fly?
Engineering Fun Day at Creative Discovery Museum is a part of E Week, the Chattanooga Engineers Club's weeklong celebration of the engineering profession. More information about E week can be found at www.chattanooga.engineersweek.com and the National Engineering Week website at www.eweek.org.
