Judge Sandy Mattice on Monday sentenced a man charged in a counterfeit money scheme to serve 12 months and a day in prison.
He allowed probation for a woman involved in the caper last July.
Judge Mattice said Ronnie Cargile and Tina Gilliam "were not very good counterfeiters."
He said a clerk at a convenience store in Manchester immediately recognized that she had been given a fake $20 bill and they were arrested.
Prosecutor Gary Humble noted that Cargile has past convictions of attempted operation of a meth lab, operation of a meth lab and theft.
The judge allowed Cargile until March 3 to report to federal prison.
