Ruth J. Jones, 93, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Alexian Brothers Healthcare Center.
Born in Dayton, Ky., on July 7, 1916, her family moved to California when she was a young child. Ruth was active throughout her life as a trained soprano singing on the radio, stage, in churches and special events in her community. Ruth relocated to Chattanooga in 1998 and was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard V. Jones, after 64 years of marriage.
Survivors include three children, Barbara Smith of Nashville, Marilyn (Paul) Ashley of Hixson and Dennis Jones of Red Bank; grandson, Don (Jan) Smith of Temecula, Ca.; granddaughter, Karen Reynolds of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Kelsey Smith and Carli Smith.
The family is very grateful for the loving care provided by Alexian Brothers Healthcare Center on Signal Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alexian Brothers Community Services, 425 Cumberland Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace with Rev. Bert Jones and Rev. Bill West officiating.
The family will be receiving friends from 9:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
