A new Buffalo Wild Wings is set to go in at 5740 Highway 153.
There are currently Buffalo Wild Wings units at Northgate and downtown at 507 Broad St. A new unit is being built downtown across from the Tennessee Aquarium on Market Street that will replace the 507 Broad location.
The restaurant chain first had to get a special exceptions permit from the City Council for the new unit on Highway 153. That was approved on Tuesday night.
Councilwoman Pam Ladd said Buffalo Wild Wings has proven popular in Hixson, "and the new location will give them more room."
Clint Wolford is the developer of the shopping center where the unit will be located.
The special exceptions permit was worded "night club," but attorney Ronald Feldman said Buffalo Wild Wings is "a legitimate national restaurant chain and not a night club."
Councilwoman Deborah Scott noted that Buffalo Wild Wings "has a children's menu."
Chairman Jack Benson said, "We've got to get 'night club' out of this ordinance. My mother would turn over in her grave if she thought I was approving a night club."
