Landon Howard Heads Roanoke Valley Convention And Visitors Bureau

The board of directors for the Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau (RVCVB) has announced the appointment of Landon Howard as the executive director. He replaces retiring Executive Director Dave Kjolhede.

Mr. Howard is a Chattanooga native and was formerly director of marketing and communications at the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In making this announcement, Susan Short, RVCVB board president, thanked Mr. Kjolhede for his almost 13 years of outstanding, dedicated leadership on behalf of the Bureau and indicated that “Landon Howard possesses and has clearly demonstrated the talent and experiences we sought in our future leader for the Bureau. He is a collaborator and a dynamic, creative leader and we look forward to working alongside of him as we continue to grow our convention and tourism industry in the Roanoke region.”

Since 2001, Mr. Howard has served as the vice president of marketing and communications for the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau.

He holds a bachelor's degree in public administration and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee.

Mr. Howard said, “My family and I are excited about our relocation to Virginia’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and I look forward to the privilege of working with the community to promote the areas as a vibrant and growing visitor destination.”

Police said a Highland Park woman helped crack a mystery about a rash of recent gasoline thefts involving the cutting of expensive gas lines.
