Sheryl Crow, Uriah Heep Featured On Riverbend Opening Night

Thursday, February 04, 2010

Multiple Grammy award winner Sheryl Crow will headline the opening night of Riverbend on the Coca-Cola Stage, Friends Of The Festival announced.

Each of Crow’s seven previous studio albums have gone platinum, with her 1996 album, Tuesday Night Music Club, reaching 7 times platinum rating. Her Grammy awards have included Best New Artist, Record Of The Year, Best Female Pop Performance, and Best Female Rock Performance.

Riverbend officials said, "Sheryl Crow is an American singer-songwriter, and throughout her career Sheryl has released six studio albums. For her debut album, Crow received five nominations for the Grammy Awards of 1995, winning three awards (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year for "All I Wanna Do" and Best New Artist). Crow has won a total of nine Grammy Awards from 32 nominations, and has also received awards from the American Music Awards, ASCAP Awards, Orville H. Gibson Awards, and People's Choice Awards. This performance is very exciting for the Riverbend Festival which is celebrating 30 years of making music in Chattanooga."

Also, Uriah Heep performs one of only five North American tour dates at the 2010 Riverbend Festival.

Originally from England, Uriah Heep has not toured in North America since 2002. The group's debut album, Very 'eavy... Very 'umble (which was self-titled in the United States), introduced a heavy organ and guitar-driven sound, with David Byron's theatrical, dynamic vocals soaring above thunderous sonic backgrounds.

Uriah Heep will perform on Friday, June 11, on the Bud-Light Stage.

Previous Riverbend announcements include Charlie Daniels, Darius Rucker, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Dan Baird & Homemade Sin, and Drivin and Cryin. Riverbend runs from June 11-19.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
