East Chattanooga Weed and Seed, Chattanooga Eastside Taskforce and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with many other faith-based and community organizations, are linking arms on Saturday, April 24, for a Day of Service in the East Chattanooga community.

The day will begin with registration behind Parkridge Medical Center at 8 a.m. and culminate with closing ceremonies at approximately 3 p.m.

Service projects will be available for all ages and skill levels and include landscaping, graffiti eradication, collecting of supplies, as well as painting and sprucing up local daycares, nursing homes and public schools.

Over 2000 volunteers are expected to lend a hand this day as part of the second annual Day of Service for 11 states in the Southeast for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Last year’s inaugural Day of Service yielded over 47,700 participants with over 223,000 man-hours donated.

Community partners in Chattanooga included a myriad of individuals and organizations such as The Lyndhurst Foundation, Kenco Logistic Service, Warren Mackey of the Hamilton County Commission, and many others.

East Chattanooga Weed and Seed is a community-based strategy sponsored by the US Department of Justice as an innovative, multi-agency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention and community revitalization. Its primary goal is to improve the quality of life in East Chattanooga for all residents and businesses.
