I have thought long and hard as to whether or not to post an opinion on this. I am only one voice and my opinion, in the long run, doesn't really matter I suppose. However, when I heard the initial report of CBC's license being suspended- I did think that three days suspension was a bit light-but, along with the employees involved being fired at least something was done.
Then I read a report that stated this particular location had received no prior violations in the 27 years it has been open...has the other location had an issue? Then another report...the suspension was not effective immediately, due to the Super Bowl (I truly hope I heard wrong on this one). Then a further report, to add a little more pain....the attorney for the owner of the business asked if rather than a suspension, could there not just be a civil penalty?
In my mind, all of this has trivialized and minimized the death of a woman that meant so much to her incredible husband, children, parents, and siblings, not to mention countless friends and coworkers. The actions of the employees of CBC that evening started the ball rolling in this tragedy, though ultimately it was Mr. Lane's vehicle and impaired mind that did this.
I have to wonder, did the rest of the employees that had been drinking all take cabs or were they driving their own cars too? From one business, how many impaired employees hit the road that early morning?
Again, I am only one voice, but I do miss my friend so very much, her smile will forever be burned in my memory. Please don't minimize what she meant to so many.
