The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for South Chickamauga Creek and East Ridge through Saturday evening.
The NWS said at 1:15 p.m. Friday the creek had reached 17 feet, and minor flooding is forecast.
The creek is due to rise above flood stage around 9 p.m. Friday and crest near 18.5 feet around 7 a.m. Saturday.
The creek is expected to drop below flood stage on Saturday afternoon.
At 19 feet, there is water across Mack Smith Road and it begins to impede traffic, and West Chickamauga Creek overflows its banks near the Georgia state line and inundates several roads and properties.
