BenchMark Physical Therapy has teamed up with Evidence in Motion, an education and training provider, to enhance the way physical therapists are equipped using the latest evidence-based techniques and results-driven research.
Officials said, "BenchMark is the exclusive provider for the delivery of one of the most progressive Orthopedic Residency and Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship training programs in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia."
Already there are eleven physical therapists that have successfully completed the residency program.
BenchMark and EIM supply professionals an opportunity for advanced training by offering an intensive combination of distance learning, online courses, weekend intensive hands-on courses, and clinical practice hours. The training is provided by a faculty from a variety of academic programs and clinical practices in the country.
Many of EIM’s instructors are internationally recognized for their contributions to education, research and clinical practice. Two of the instructors include David Browder, DPT, OCS, who is a regional manager for a private practice that was selected as the 2009 “Best Practice,” number one in the nation, award by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Also bringing his expertise into this residency program, is Michael Walker, PT, DSc who serves as the deputy director for the U.S. Army-Baylor University Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy.
Residency program graduates include the following clinicians:
Physical therapist Hannah Norton practices at the BenchMark Physical Therapy clinic located on 5022 Old Godsey Lane, Suite 3 in Hixson.
“I was challenged to improve my practice behaviors to keep up with the evolution of physical therapy as new research becomes available,” said Ms. Norton, who treats a variety of orthopedic conditions and specializes in neck and back pain. “I have become a more qualified physical therapist.”
Another graduate of the program, physical therapist Kimberly Humphries, practices at the BenchMark Physical Therapy clinic located on 1467 N. Mack Smith Road in East Ridge.
She also agrees that the residency program has helped her realize the importance of keeping up with current evidence, “on what gets patients better the fastest."
