Doctor Brings Spiritual Principles to Weighty Matters

Saturday, February 06, 2010 - by David Hamilton

A new program to be launched at the Brainerd BX on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. will help those who are overweight or obese discover healing in ways they haven’t imagined, leaders said.
Using principles found in the Bible and encouraging deeper relationships among those seeking help, Heartwise Ministries will offer advice and perspectives regarding common health issues and concerns expressed here and around the country.

Speaker and director of Heartwise Ministries, Dr. James L. Marcum is a cardiologist practicing with the Chattanooga Heart Institute. Dr. Marcum is active in the television, radio and print arm of Heartwise and “has a heart” for those needing to lose weight.

“We’re the biggest winner when we put God as the head of any treatment program,” Dr. Marcum said on Thursday. “No weight loss program that I know of puts God at the very top.”

The program will be encouraging a stronger relationship with God as well as offering monthly, Biblical principals for weight loss and weight management.

“Most people know how they should eat and how they should exercise. The question is, where do they get the power to accomplish these,” Dr. Marcum said. “The answer is God. And the answer includes the relationships around us.”

The first meeting planned at the BX will be for those who might want to participate. Heartwise wants to see how many people are interested in such a program and, in fact, encourages those who are already in other programs to visit while continuing their own regimen. The Heartwise approach can be a supplemental, offering medical advice, relationships with those who have seen success and principles upon which to build — and maintain — a healthy lifestyle, he said.

“HeartWise” is featured on J103 every Sunday at 8 a.m. Their ministry’s new television program, “Heart of Health,” airs Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. on the Dish Network Channel 260, known as Angel 2. The program runs each Saturday at 6:30 a.m. on the RetroTelevision Network. These programs seek to give balance to the health care world and guide the listeners and viewers to the real source of healing.

HeartWise Ministries is a non-denominational ministry which guides people to truths found in the Bible which will lead to love and ultimately healing. Heartwise is now on 250 radio stations worldwide and produce an hour of radio programming each week as well as producing 26 television programs annually. Also, healers from every discipline answer questions submitted weekly to the home website, found at www.heartwiseministries.org.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: The Sadness Of The Recall

If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
