Kids On The Block To Perform Educational Puppetry Program

Saturday, February 06, 2010

Chattanooga's Kids on the Block will perform an educational puppetry program addressing childhood obesity and healthy snacking at Earth Fare on Gunbarrel Road on Monday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. each day.

Customers will have the opportunity to meet the puppet “kids” Brenda Dubrowski and Zach Jones.

Officials said, "Brenda and Zach will be motivating people to include 60 minutes of physical activity every day and encouraging people to try new fruits and vegetables that they have never tried before.

Following the performance all children in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in a free art activity focusing on healthy eating.

Brenda and Zach are featured in the Chattanooga's Kids on the Block “Kids on the Move” addressing childhood obesity and healthy snacking.

“What a fun and entertaining way to educate and motivate children to live a healthier lifestyle,” said Kelly Williams, executive director.

In January Chattanooga's Kids on the Block and Earth Fare joined forces in an effort to eliminate childhood obesity.

Chattanooga's Kids on the Block is the first “Friend of Earth Fare” in the Chattanooga area. As a friend, CKOB is the beneficiary of the Earth Fare recycling program from January through March. For each bag reused, CKOB receives five cents.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
