Neva Vandergriff Rogers, 79, of Jasper, Tn., died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in a Chattanooga hospital.
The daughter of the late George Washington and Cora Edna Brown Vandergriff, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Jasper and served for several years as Secretary at Jasper Elementary School.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J.P. "Buck" Rogers; sisters, Thelma Thompson, Eva Vandergriff, Louise Hartman and Jo Swafford; brothers, George and James Vandergriff.
She is survived by her son, Steven Rogers of Jasper; daughters, Gay R. Parker and Johnna R. Barrett both of Roswell, Ga.; granddaughters, Nicole Yontz, Rebecca Rogers, Emily Rogers, Chelsea Doane and Lauren Doane; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Julia and Nolan Yontz; sisters, Gladys McClendon of Whitwell, Zula Ridley of Chattanooga and Bobbie Tedder of Soddy Daisy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. CST with Reverend David Clay officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, Feb. 8 from 4-9 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.
