Boy Scout Troop 254 celebrated its 40th anniversary Sunday with a luncheon and program.

Troop 254 is sponsored by Tyner United Methodist Church.

Over 170 Scouts, Scouters, family members, and local Scout Executives attended the function. Former Navy SEAL and Eagle Scout George “Sandy” McMillan was the featured speaker at the morning Scout Sunday church service. Local Scout Executive, Civic leader, and Eagle Scout Bill Leonard gave the keynote address at the luncheon.

Troop 254 has had 72 boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout. 29 of Troop 254’s Eagle Scouts attended the luncheon and were recognized for their achievement.

During its 40 years of existence, Troop 254 has been led by 11 different Scoutmasters. Seven of the 11 were able to attend the luncheon and were thanked for their service to the troop.

Troop 254 meets every Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Tyner United Methodist Church. Any interested boy age 11 to 17 is invited to be a part of the troop.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
