Chattanooga fire investigators arrested a man Monday for starting a fire at the Dome Building at 736 Georgia Ave. last fall. Daniel Maier, 59, was arrested for arson.
Chattanooga firefighters were called to the Dome Building on Oct. 4, 2009. There was evidence of a fire around the entrance to the building, but the flames had burned themselves out. The fire damage was minimal, and no one was injured.
Maier was already in jail on other charges. Investigators said they do not know why he tried to burn down the building.
Lieutenant Anthony Moore said the Chattanooga Police Department's crime scene unit provided valuable assistance that helped lead to the arrest.
